지속가능성 연구개발비지출과지속가능성 성과 및 재무성과 간의 관계

초록
본 연구는 지속가능성을 위한 연구개발비지출이 지속가능성 성과와 재무성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지, 지속가능성 성과가 다시 재무성과에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하고자 하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 분석을 위해 연구개발비지출을 지속가능성 성과 분류에 따라 3가지 목적의 연구개발비지출로 분류하였으며, 지속가능성 성과는 경제성과, 사회성과, 환경성과로 분류하였고, 재무성과는 최근 3년간의 목표대비 재무성과를 사용하였다. 분석결과, 연구개발비지출과 지속가능성 성과 및 재무성과 간의 관계에서는 총연구개발비지출이 사회․환경성과와 재무성과에 유의적인 정(+)의 영향, 지속가능성 성과목적별 연구개발비지출 중에서는 환경성과 목적의 연구개발비지출만 3가지의 지속가능성 성과와 재무성과 모두에 유의적인 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 지속가능성 성과는 재무성과에 유의적인 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 추가분석에서는 BCG 제품라이프사이클 각 단계에 따라 지속가능성을 위한 연구개발비지출이 지속가능성 성과와 재무성과에 차별적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 기업의 사회적 책임을 실현하기 위한 지속가능성에 대한 연구개발비지출이 필요하며, 그러한 경우 지속가능성 성과와 재무성과가 개선되는 결과를 가져오게 되어 소비자들로부터 기업의 사회적 책임에 대한 이미지를 제고할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 재무성과 향상을 통한 주주부에도 기여할 수 있게 되므로 연구개발비지출에 있어 지속가능성을 고려한 연구개발비지출이 이루어져야 함을 보여주고 있다.
Abstract
This paper aims to analyze the relationship between the research and development(R&D) expenditure on sustainability, sustainability, and financial performance. The results revealed that total R&D expenditure positively impacts social-environment sustainability and financial performance, and also sustainability in turn positively impacts financial performance. Only R&D expenditure on environment sustainability has a positive impact on three sustainability and financial performance. R&D expenditure on sustainability on the stage of the product life cycle of BCG deferentially impacts sustainability and financial performance. These results show that the firm needs to consider R&D expenditure on sustainability for sustainability and financial performance because R&D expenditure on sustainability improves the image of social responsibility of the firm and the wealth of stockholders.
