UX 디자인 관점에서의 해외 대학교 웹사이트 디자인 연구 -인천 글로벌 캠퍼스를 중심으로-

초록
본 연구에서는 기존 웹사이트 디자인과 차별화된 UX디자인 관점에서 사용자가 보다 쉽고 편하게 원하는 정보를 이용할수 있도록 국내 해외 대학교 웹사이트를 개선하고자 하였다. 현재 많은 대학교들이 웹사이트를 구축하여 입시생, 학부모, 재학생 등이 필요로 하는 정보를 손쉽게 얻을 수 있도록 편익을 제공하고 있지만, 사용자를 고려하지 않고 일방적으로 정보를 제공하는 인터페이스는 문제점이 아닐 수 없다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 UX디자인의 전개와 조형적 구성요소 특징을 분석하여 해결방안을 찾도록 하였다. 연구대상으로는 인천 글로벌 캠퍼스에 위치한 겐트대학교, 뉴욕주립대학교, 유타대학교, 조지메이슨대학교 총 4개 대학교 웹사이트 디자인으로 하였다.사용자를 배려하지 않거나 체계적이지 못한화면구성의 웹사이트는 이용자의 불편을 초래할 뿐만 아니라 더 나아가 학교의 이미지와 신뢰감을 떨어트릴 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 대학의 웹사이트로 하여금 사용자가 필요로 하는 정보를 제공하고, 그러한 정보를 효과적으로 전달할 수있도록 UX디자인 관점에서 조형적 구성요소인 내비게이션, 레이아웃 멀티미디어 버튼 및 아이콘, 웹 그래픽, 컬러, 타이포그래피 총7가지 분석을 진행하였다. 분석결과로 연구자가 얻은 결론은 대학의 이미지와 특성을 차별화를 시켜 사용자의 수요를 충족시키며 사용성과 편의성을 고려해야함을 확인하였고, 신뢰와 친근감을 가져다 줄 수 있게 절제된 디자인배치를 활용하여야함을 알 수 있었다. 그래픽 효과의 경우 전제적인 분위기와 어울릴 수 있게 배치하여 편리하게 이용할수 있어야 사용자에게 효과적으로 전달할 수 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 내용들은 결국 대학교 웹사이트와 사용자간의 UX디자인으로 쌍방향 소통이 가능하여 상호교류 콘텐츠가 제공되는 웹사이트가 되어야한 한다는 문제일 것이다. 이 같은 연구가 보다 나은 사용자 중심의 대학교 웹사이트 디자인 활용 방안에 도움이 되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This research is aimed at improving the web sites’ utility of foreign universities in Korea from a UX-based perspective of design – which differs from existing one; so that the users are able to get access to information in an easy and convenient way. Even though a lot of universities are now providing such convenient information services to students preparing for an entrance examination, parents, and enrolled students by establishing their own websites, their interface providing information unilaterally without considering users might be a problem. In such a sense, this research is set to find solutions by analysing the development and features of formative factors of the UX design. Sample targets are taken and used from Gent University, State university of New York-Korea, University of Utah, and George Mason University – all 4 university web site design of which are located in Incheon Global Campus. Screen designs that are ill-arranged or take no heed of users’ conveniences are bound to even undermine the school’s external image and trust. So, this research deals with ways for effective information-providing service through navigation, layout, multimedia, button & icon, web graphic, color and typography the application of the UX design. In the results of the analysis, the users' demand should be satisfied and also the usability and convenience should be considered by differentiating the image and characteristics of universities while using the moderate design arrangement to bring in trust and friendliness. In case of the graphic effect, it should be arranged to be harmonized with the overall atmosphere for the convenient use, so that it can be effectively delivered to users. Eventually, it means that it would be necessary to have websites providing interactive contents through the two-way communication between university websites and users based on UX design. It is hoped that the research pave way for a better use of universities’ web sites for the sake of the users.
