파타피직스 철학과 건축디자인의 관계성에 관한 고찰

초록
본 연구는 먼저 문학계에 등장한 파타피직스의 철학적 개념이 어떻게 건축디자인과 관련성을 갖는가에 대해서 살펴보고, 최근에 활발하게 사용되고 있는 가상현실기술이 적용된 건축디자인의 가상성을 이해하기 위한 방법론으로서의 파타피직스의 철학을 살펴보고자 한다. 파타피직스의 철학은 위비대왕(Ubu Roi)을 창작한 알프레드 자리라는 18세기의 프랑스 극작가에 의해서 만들어진 용어로서, 흔히 기존의 고정된 관습을 거부하고, 본체가 가지고 있는 속성을 은유하여 표현하는 ‘상상의 솔루션(imaginary solutions)의 과학’으로 해석이 되는 개념으로 알려져 있다. 단어가 가지고 있는 다차원적인 의미성으로 인하여 문학작품 및 예술분야에 많은 영향을 미쳤으며, 이를 통해서 현대미술의 태동이 촉진되었다고 할 수 있다. 파타피직스 철학이 가지고 있는 기존관습의 부정, 부조리한 현실의 표현이라는 개념은 현대의 예술 및 디자인 분야에 있어서는 다다이즘 및 초현실주의의 운동과 연관성을 가지며, 건축분야에서는 당시의 예술계와 밀접한 교류를 가졌던 근대 건축가들을 통해서 직·간접적 영향을 받게 된다. 또한 파타피직스 철학은 현대건축분야에서 전개되는 파라메트릭 디자인 및 가상성이 접목된 건축디자인에까지 이어지고 있다. 따라서 파타피직스에 대한 통시적, 동시적 고찰을 통해서 현대건축 및 미래건축에 나타나는 새로운 경향인 가상성 및 미래지향성의 건축디자인을 해석하는 하나의 방법론으로서의 가능성을 탐구하고자 한다.
Abstract
This paper is searching the possibility of the pataphysics as the creation and analysis methodology for the current architectural design which have the virtuality and the futuristic factors. Pataphyiscs was created by french playwright Alfred Jarry who wrote the ‘Ubu Roi’ and the other unique and influential literature works. Pataphysics represent the rejection of conventions and the absurdity of real world to create the new orders from the old one. The concept of pataphysics had created the movements of dadaism and surrealism in the literature and the art which have powerful influence on the current artistic movement and the modern architectural design. The parametricism and the virtuality in architectural design have relationship with the pataphysics. As the result, this paper will propose a new perspective for the current architectural design ranging from the virtuality to the futuristic design.
