서비스 디자인 환경에 나타나는 바이오필리아 효과 연구

This research examines the effect of biophilia in a service design environment. To achieve this goal, the author reviewed Elements of Biophilic Design (Heerwagen, 2001; Stephen R. Kellert, 2005) and categorized biophilic designs accordingly. In addition, items that can measure the effect of biophilia in a service environment were reviewed. Three case studies for Apple, Mayo Clinic and Korean Air are presented. The first case provides biophilic experience through firsthand product experiences in a service environment where the design focus is on the experience via tangible as well as intangible media. The second case illustrates bilophilic experiences with cure and recovery of patients. The last case delivers biophilic experiences by inducing the experience on the whole. Although the composition was slightly different in terms of EBD, the results show that EBD items and attributes are also applicable to service design environments, and that EBD tailored by a design environment of interest which promotes media evolution as well as sustainable growth and restoration may lead consumers to have more opportunities to have biophilic experiences, which in turn leads the consumers to have better and positive life from both emotional and physical aspects.
