초록
호메로스가 구성한 <오디세이>의 텔레마코스와 오디세우스의 여행을 관광학적 시각을 통하여 접근하였다. 작품의 주인공들은 죽음으로 끝이 날 고난의 길로 나서는 적극적인 결단을 하면서 자신의 정체성을 확보하고 유지하려 든다. 이는 마치 집을 나서면 고생이라는 것을 뻔히 알면서도 여행을 떠나는 우리들의 일반적인 삶과 일치한다. <오디세이>의 오디세우스는 거저 주어진 불사의 행운을 거절하고 인간 오디세우스로 남기 위해 험난한 귀향길로 떠난다. 특히, 인간의 삶이 고난으로 가득하고결국은 죽음으로 끝나는 것에 불과하지만 바로 그 때문에 영웅이 영웅 노릇을 할 수 있다는 점을 부각시켜 보여 줌으로써 인간의 삶에 대한 철저한 긍정을 선언한다. 문명의 초기에서부터 이루어진 여행에서 인간에게는 인간 자신이 그처럼 큰 과제였던 것이다. 그래서 여행이 인류의 발달사와 인류문화문명의 발전에 미친 지대한 영향도 수많은 여행자가 던진 과제의 크기에서 기인하는 것이라 할 수있다. 호메로스의 <오디세이>를 관광학적으로 접근하는 것은 그 과제와 씨름을 해온 인류발전의 원동력인 여행을 반추(反芻)하면서 여행이 가져다주는 정체성 확보와 인간의 재탄생, 그리고 우리의 스승이 되어주는 멘토 역할을 이해하기 위한 기본 소양을 갖추는 일이다.
Abstract
The travel of Odysseus and Telemachus in <Odyssey> which Homer configured was accessed through the tourism approach. Telemachus and Odysseus secure their own identity and are reborn as human beings by deciding to take a trip, which gives them suffering and ends in death. This is consistent with our common life, leaving the obvious travel, despite knowing clearly that there is no place like home and that the travel results in suffering. Odysseus declined a fortune of immortality freely given and left for a rough travel to remain as Odysseus, humans. Through the travel, we clearly expose the thorough positive that the human being is more valuable than the existence of God that would enjoy the eternal bliss guaranteed without any effort. But eventually, because of the travel, every human being realizes the fact that being human is only a paltry present, such as mobilization of the mischievous puppet in the joke of the gods and also sheds tears in misery suffered by human. So it can be said that the travel has made a crazy profound impact on the development of human culture and civilization, due to the size of challenges thrown by a number of travelers. Analyzing Homer's <Odyssey> from the tourism perspective is to have a basic understanding of how travel secures the identity and the rebirth of human beings and the roles of mentors who become our teachers, ruminating on the travel which has wrestled with challenges and is the driving force of the progress of mankind.
