여성 ‘몸-증권화’를 통한 한국 성산업의 정치경제적 전환에 대한 연구

This study begins with the Korea’s paradoxical reality that sex industry is flourishing although prostitution is illegal. To reveal the interrelationship of this phenomenon and neoliberal financialization, this paper closely examined the ‘prostitution club specialized loan commodities’ that Cheil Savings Bank launched, and analyzed the politics behind the birth and the operation of the loan. These loans could be developed through ‘securitization’, a key feature of a neoliberal accumulation of wealth. Interlocked with the securitization of the debts, the debtors’ lives are being captured and this study names its entire process ‘body-securitization’, which is beyond the descriptive analysis. This concept follows but also supplements the existing researches that argued the capitalist expansion is caused by the financial expropriation as source of profit. The ‘body-securitization’, however, produces a gendered effect through trust on the high future profit that sex economy will make. At the same time, the trust is combined with the specific practices of making women’s body financial investment products. As a result, the paradoxical reality of a boom in big prostitution clubs despite the prohibition of prostitutions in mid-2000s should be explained by the condition and the effect of ‘body-securitization’ of women. By revealing the women’s experiences which went unobserved in the existing researches on the neoliberal financialization, this paper sheds light on finding the direction of feminist politics to solve prostitution issues in this neoliberal era.
