Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) was used to monitor the corrosion processes occurring atFe/Mg couple immersed in 0.1 M NaCl aqueous solution. The release of Fe2+ ions, Mg2+ ions and theconsumption of dissolved oxygen was successfully monitored as a function of time by setting the tippotential at +0.60 V,1.6 V and0.75 V respectively. The results revealed that the Fe/Mg couple awayfrom each other showed a decrease in current values with time. The decrease in current at Fe/Mg is due tothe formation of oxide layer of Mg and the corrosion products over the Fe with times.
