제왕학(帝王學) 교본 편찬의 역사적 고찰 - 「정관정요」와 「대학연의」를 중심으로 -

The purpose of this research is to explicate the historical significance of Je-wang(帝王; emperor or king) education, as implemented in the Koryeo and Cho-sun dynasties of Korea and the ancient China, as well as the publication of Je-wang-hak(帝王學; philosophy for emperor or king) textbooks. Kyung-yeon(經筵; emperor or king’s practice of learning and governance with government officials), a Je-wang education program in the Eastern Asian society, entrenched in Confucian tradition, was an important national educational program. In Kyung-yeon, in which the Je-wang himself had participated, textbooks were needed for lectures and sermons. Je-wang cared deeply about the process of the publication. Jung-kwan-jung-yo and Dae-hak-yun-eui were frequently utilized as Je-wang-hak textbooks. Notably, since the establishment of Neo-confucianism, Dae-hak-yun-eui, went through countless numbers of supplementary revision processes and, finally, obtained its status as the main Je-wang-hak textbook. Je-wang-hak is a modern equivalent of the studies of the leader, and the publication of ‘Je-wang-hak’ textbooks for the leader education admits significant implications: The leader of the country should make strenuous efforts in establishing his or her political philosophy; the leader should continuously engage in academic research in order to enrich the contents of his or her philosophy of leader; the leader should see to it that his or her philosophy reflects the reality.
