노동조합공론장에서의 감정 동학 - 전국금속노조 S&T중공업 지회의 사례

The purpose of this study is to analyse the emergence and the effects of collective emotions of workers in the public sphere of labor union. The public opinion in the public sphere of labor union is to legitimate the emotion of anger and hostility of workers and raise the will of action through the spread of some emotional atmosphere. Major emotion in the public sphere of labor union is the resentment and anxiety/fear. In the context of the power relation with employer, resentment makes the will of collective action with organizational formation of public opinion and fear give rise to individual action for avoidance of danger. In the case of KMWU S&T Heavy Industry local chapter, resentment and humiliation to disregard personality made collective struggles in 1987. During the management crisis of 1997-2001, the anger of overdue wages gave rise to collective struggle and the fear of unemployment after company bankruptcy led to resignation of workers. After 2003 M&A of the company, the fear of company restructuring and layoff has overwhelmed the resentment of the Employer. During the 1980s and 1990s, the public sphere of labor union in S&T Heavy Industry meant the project of formation collective identity as a autonomous subject with equal human rights and a working class. It was a ‘recognition struggle’ for dignity of human beings. However, after 2000s, the public sphere of labor union in S&T Heavy Industry has depended on the validity of the discourse of a fair distribution and job security.
