세월호 참사 혹은 ‘물신화되고...무감각해진’ 한국인의 보수주의적 삶에 대한 정치철학적 소고

세월호 참사에는 1960년대 근대화 이래의 현재의 한국인의 총체적 삶의 문제, 즉 근본적으로 ‘물신화되고, 기계화되고, 수학화되고, 무감각해진’ 한국인의 삶 혹은 ‘정치적으로나 사회적으로 미성숙한’ 한국인의 삶이 투영되어 있다. 세월호 참사를 통해 결정적으로 드러난 한국인의 존재․행위양식으로서 ‘보수주의’적 삶의 문제를 성찰하고 해결하는 데 정치철학적 단서들이 찾아질 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 ‘역동적 정신’, ‘사회적 관계’ 그리고 ‘감각적 욕구’라는 3개의 개념이 논의된다. 이러한 개념적 틀로 부터, 현재 한국인의 삶을 특징짓고 있는 양상들, 즉 활력을 상실한 사고와 행위를 ‘정신의 역동적 운동’으로 바꾸어 나가고, 물화되고, 수학화되고, 합리화된, 그리고 업적주의와 성취주의에 의해 지배되는 ‘사회적 관계’를 인간화시키고, ‘감각적 욕구’의 충족을 에로스적인 삶의 본능이 발현되는 방식으로 바꾸어 나가는 것이 이론적으로 그리고 실천적으로 필요하다는 사실이 도출된다. '보수주의적‘ 삶에 내재해 있는 ‘보다 근원적이며 심층적인 차원’의 문제의 해결이 선행되지 않는 한, 한국인의 삶이 ‘에로스적인 감각과 감성이 충만하고, 또 그것이 구속받지 않고 자유롭게 표출되는 삶의 총체성’과 ‘이론과 실천의 문제가 관심을 갖고 소통되는 삶의 총체성’으로 이동 내지는 전환의 계기는 마련될 수 없을 것이다.
Abstract
The Sinking or Disastrous Accident of the MV Sewol is a shadow of the ‘fetishized, mechanized, mathematized and apathetic life of Korean people’. This sort of life, which could be also called a ‘politically and socially not enlightened (immature) life’, has been formed since the economic and political change or modernization of the 1960s. It is necessary to find a clue for introspecting on and solving the problems of ‘conservative’ life (or the problems of the mode of thought and action) of Korean people, as in the Disastrous Accident of the MV Sewol manifested. For this, three concepts such as ‘dynamic spirit’, ‘social relation’ and ‘sensual desire’ are discussed and, based on them, following consequences are deduced: A new form of life of Korean people is needed to be shaped by transforming the impotent thought and activity into a ‘dynamic movement of the spirit’, humanizing the success- and achievement-oriented 'social relation’ which is dominated by fetishism, mathematical calculation and vulgar rationality, and fulfilling the ‘sensual desire’ in the realization of the erotic instinct of life. In a word, a turning point in the totality of ‘conservative’ life of Korean people could not be provided without solving the problems of life in basic and deep dimension. This is the way they attain a new totality of life in which erotic feelings and sensitivities are freely expressed and theoretical and practical questions of life are communicated without restriction.
