The patriarchal ‘house-home’ discourse and the design practice reproduced the female occupation and the fantasy of the gendered divisions. They placed the women in the emotionally, personally, privately unstable places such as the bedroom, the kitchen, the bathroom, and the closet, etc. As the result, the women are danger in 2 aspects: First, they confine the women to home place. Second, although they put emphasis on the female virtues and the design in house and home, the women are alienated by them. In this paper, I argue the defect and the possibility of the 2nd and 3rd feminist alternatives to them. In the chapter 2, I critically analyse on traditional discourse about oikos in the history of philosophy and architecture. In the chapter 3, I pay attention to the ‘sexual difference’ which Luce Irigaray suggested and ‘Womanhouse’ of Judy Chicago and 23 female artists in 1974∼1979. In the chapter 4, I defend the essentialist feminist aesthetics and research for the turning point of post-feminist aesthetics for the house design. I analyse on the polarity of the interior designs of Margarete Scütte-Lihotsky and Lilly Reich. In the last chapter, I study the case of Mok In You, Hye Gyu Yang and Olafur Eliasson’ s works for the gender experiment of living space and the post-feminist alternative.
