The Death of Labor in Consumption Society - A Prologue to the conception of a New Labor Law -

This Article is dealing with the labor issues of consumption society from the point of Jean Baudrillard's theoretical view of consumption society. It should be explored where and when the prickly labor problems have been come from and are going to, and it should be researched how the labor has become as the main part of social, economical and political life. Since the latter half of the 20th century the capitalist societies, slowly escaped from a model of society which is based on the labor for the last two centuries, have been turning to a new society. Nowadays we live in the middle of a consume-oriented society, in which the productive labors change into the serving work, and then is ignored and devalued as a subsidiary of capital. It is called as the death of labor. The death of labor does not mean the laborers' extinction, but it is called a change of the social meanings of labor in itself. By authorizing a definite clue to the solution with the production labor and its legal residual product as the Rights to labor and to organize, it would not be possible to solve the problems of consumption society. It needs to change of ideas. Basic labor rights are the legal ideas based on the logic of the production of a bygone era. Now, the Labor Rights breathed her last with the he demise of Production Ages. They should change into a new mode corresponding with consumption society. the Laborers' Basic Rights to Job must be changed into the Rights to money for consumption, and the Laborers' collective Rights to organize should be re-politicalized as the Rights to strike for New Movement toward a New Society.
