Low Fertility Measures and The Role and Task of Labor Law

The Korean government since 2005 year has came up with various measures to boost the low birthrate. According to this, various labor acts especially relating to pregnance, childbirth and child care. Nevertheless, none has been successful and much remains to be done. Considering this situation, this article firstly analyzed trends about countermeasures to low fertility of international organizations and various countries to get useful implications. And this article analyzed Korean policy response and changes of labor law relating to low fertility measures and pointed out their problems. In conclusion, this article presented what labor law should be done the role and task in low fertility era. The crux of this article is as follows. To enhance effectiveness of measures and laws relating to low fertility, to solve social structural matters that influence negatively on doing marriage and childbirth and to make working circumstances that human rights including the right of labor, maternity rights & paternity rights and gender equality can be realized necessarily should be done.
