혜영(慧影) 『대지도론소(大智度論疏)』에 대한 기초적 고찰

초록
본 논문은 북조 중국불교 연구상황을 알기 위한 소재로 혜영(慧影, ?-600)의『대지도론소』에 관한 기본적 고찰을 한 것이다. 『대지도론소』는 용수의 저작으로 구마라집이 번역한 것으로 전해지는 『대지도론』의 현전하는 최초의 주석서이다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 혜영의 전기와 『대지도론소』에 대한 역사적 기록 등을고찰하여, 성립시기와 유포상황을 검토하였다. 혜영의 스승 도안(道安)의 주석 혹은 강의문이 먼저 있었고, 혜영이 그것을 전승한 것이 현재의 『대지도론소』로 보인다. 전체 24권이었으나 현재는 7권(권1⋅6⋅14⋅15⋅17⋅21⋅24)만전하고 있으며, 수미가 온전한 형태를 갖추고 있는 것은 3권(권14⋅17⋅21)에불과하다. 이러한 한계상황 때문인지 『대지도론』에 대한 최초의 주석서라는위치를 차지하고 있음에도 불구하고, 현재까지 여기에 대한 연구가 미비한 상황이다. 다음으로 구성목차 및 전해지고 있는 주석형태를 개괄적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 권1은 『대지도론』 맨 앞부분의 게송을 주석한 것인데, 게송 한 구절씩을 따르는 수문해석(隨文解釋)을 하고 있다. 또한 비교적 상세한 주석이 이루어지고 있음을 밝혔다. 그러나 권15 이후부터 『대지도론』 각품(品)의 내용에 들어가면서는 전체 단어의 뜻이나 문장전체를 과단(科斷)을 나누고, 다시세부적으로 과단을 먼저 나누고 개별적으로 주석하는 형태를 취하고 있음을확인하였다.
Abstract
This article purports to be a basic study of the Commentary on the Dazhidulun (大智度論疏) by Huiying (慧影) in order to investigate the reality of Chinese Buddhism in the Northern Dynasties. This is the earliest extant commentary on the Dazhidulun (大智度論), which is regarded to be written by Nāgārjuna and translated by Kumārajīva. According to the Sequel to the Biographies of Eminent Monks (續高僧 傳), Huiying died in the year of 600, thus the Commentary on the Dazhidulunwas likely completed before his death. This work is recorded to have been composed of 24 fascicles, although only seven fascicles remain today, three of which suffered little to no damage. This article aims to provide a general analysis of the annotation style and arrangement of the contents of the extant commentary. The first fascicle of the commentary, the annotation of the foremost poetic lines of the Dazhidulun, is composed of explications following the text (隨文解 釋). From the fifth fascicle, however, the commentarial work is ascertained to have the style of annotating each section (品) of the Dazhidulun, focusing upon the general significance of each word with the division of its sentences according to their substance, and distinguishing further its specific content and annotating each passage separately.
