초록
This study aims to determine WIP (willingness to participate) in leisure activities, considering three major factors that affect participation: motivation, constraints and skill. The purpose of this study is to observe preferences related to the leisure activity type - casual, moderate and serious leisure and to relate these to willingness to participate in frequent leisure activities. The aims were to examine to what extent the variables, (constraints, motivation and skill) predict the willingness to participate in future activities of leisure participants, and to find the main motives of participation. A total of 500 frequent participants were surveyed and 410 valid samples were finally analysed. Descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test and regression were conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences Software Program (SPSS) 21.0. Results from this study confirmed a significant positive relationship between WIPand 'Extrinsic Motivation' and 'Skill by Experience' and a negative correlation with 'Skill by Knowledge' and 'Intrapersonal Constraints.' It further indicates that participants were more willing to participate in an activity if they had developed their skills through more participation. In addition, the frequent participants were knowledgeable about the situation and type of activity in which they participated, and found a higher interpersonal constraint for willingness to participate in more risk-taking activities.
