법정드라마를 통한 미국법의 이해와 코퍼스에 기반한 법률영어의 학습방안 연구

Dramas have various contents and present the topics according to their intentions and purposes. The major targets of legal dramas are legal affairs and lawsuits. The purpose of this study is to suggest an effective way of understanding U.S. law through legal dramas and legal English based on the corpus from legal dramas and legal terminology. The understanding of U.S. laws and regulations through legal dramas can, first, help learners to learn U.S. law and its legal culture easily and, second, contribute to enhancing the ability of legal English as a kind of English for Specific Purposes, which requires not only the knowledge of English but also the knowledge of law by utilizing the corpus of legal English and the database of legal terminology. Legal dramas including TV series are a proper genre to consistently deal with hundreds of legal affairs and situations, and they mostly require the form of series. The series of legal dramas can consist of several seasons, which, in turn, consist of dozens of episodes, totaling hundreds of pieces of legal dramas. Studying legal dramas where such sources of law as cases are reflected will enhance the understanding of U.S. law and the improvement of legal English because legal dramas as a discourse and legal cases as a text are vehicles of delivering various legal aspects.
