한국 기독교공간에 나타난 종교현상학적 특성에 관한 연구 -M. 엘리아데의 종교현상학을 중심으로-

Studies on religious phenomenological characteristics of Christian spaces in Korea can be conducted through the theory of 'religious phenomenology' which considers the characteristics of religious spaces rather than 'phenomenology' mentioned in general philosophical discourses. This study aims to explore the domain structure of Christian spaces in Korea and analyze religious phenomenological characteristics which appear in Christian spaces through religious structures based on Mircea Eliade's theory of religious phenomenology. This study segmented established contents of expressive characteristics in religious phenomenology into domain structures of Christian spaces. The research results are as follows. 1) In transition spaces and worship spaces, hierarchy of center and direction of light stood out and various methods expressing temporality were witnessed in this domain. 2) In religious spaces, existence of the absolute being was expressed through environmental temporality and, in order to strengthen this characteristic, natural elements were used such as light or water. 3) Temporality through process space can be said to be a special religious experience which believers have in service area. 4) Images and symbols in Christian space are the basic characteristics which start from worship space and furniture. The characteristics of M. Eliade's religious phenomenology discussed in 'The Sacred and the Profane' are also being discovered in Christian spaces in Korea as well. This study is expected to be a motivation to bring into focus the unique characteristics of religious spaces by objectifying the meaning of 'Hierophany' and to apply them to methodology of interpreting religious spaces.
