초록
The objective of this study was to utilize a new technique to reduce an athlete’s personal record time through the application of the 7-step approach. This approach is often used by elite, world-class hurdlers in men’s 110-m hurdle events. We performed a kinematic analysis of the 7-step approach and the universally accepted 8-step approach on the present Korean record holder in hurdles (13.43 s). Upon analyses, we derived the following conclusions for the 7-step approach: 1) elongated start technique was used at the start; 2) higher stride length and rate in the 7-step approach than in the 8step approach; 3) extended trunk lean angle in the sprint phase and increased angular velocity at takeoff; 4) the point at which the maximum horizontal velocity of the center of mass was; 5) at takeoff, the distance between the foot and the hurdle was greater and the center of mass was closer in the 7-step approach than in the 8step approach; 6) at the peak of flight, the height of the center of mass, horizontal velocity, and size of the trunk lean angle of the upper body were greater in the 7-step approach than in the 8-step approach; and 7) at landing, the distance between the center of mass and the foot was lesser in the 7step approach than in the 8-step approach.
