The Influence of Workplace Harassment in Psychological Burnout and Turnover Intention

초록

The purpose of this study wast to better understand the influence of workplace harassment in deluxe hotel staff members on psychological burnout and turnover intention. Based on a total of 248 samples obtained for empirical research, this study reviewed the reliability and fitness of the research model and verified a total 9 hypotheses using the AMOS program. The hypothesized relationships in the model were simultaneously tested by using a structural equation model(SEM). The proposed model provided an adequate fit to the data, χ²=213.897(p<.001), df=158, CMIN/DF=1.354, GFI=.920, AGFI=.893, NFI=.907, CFI=.973, RMSEA=.038. The model's fit, as indicated by these indexes, was deemed satisfactory, thus providing a good basis for testing the hypothesized paths. The SEM showed that psychological harassment(β=.289), isolation(β=.516) had significant positive influence on psychological burnout. In addition, psychological harassment(β=.161), isolation(β=.223) had a significant positive influence on psychological burnout. And psychological burnout(β =.471) had a significant positive influence on turnover intention. The moderating effects on staff's career do not seem to exist, although its effects on job status do. Limitations and future research directions are also discussed.
