Effects of control and autonomy between franchisors and franchisees in the food service industry on fairness, conflict, and business results

초록

The need to study the relationship between franchisors and franchisees in terms of control and automation rises due to the boom in business franchising. The aim of this study was to examine the effects of the various levels of control and autonomy that franchisees perceive to have in dealing with their franchiser, and it particularly delves on fairness in franchising rules, conflicts with the franchisor, and business results. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the study was conducted by establishing a hypothesis through precedent studies and relevant literature and verifying the hypothesis through empirical testing. The findings of this study suggested guidelines for improving franchise fairness and business results and for reducing conflicts with franchisors through improved control and autonomy between the franchisor and franchisee in the food service industry. At the same time, the possibility of lessening conflicts with the franchisor and increasing business results through franchise fairness was also suggested in this study. An improvement in the relationship between franchisors and franchisees through lowering conflict levels was also proposed.
