남강의 수변공간을 위한 파고라 디자인 개발

Cities have continued to develop to the point of being compared to the greatest human invention. In recent years, particularly, efforts are actively being made for developing waterside spaces located at the heart of the cities so as to build eco-friendly infrastructure of culture. Public facilities within waterside spaces in cities are one of the places that lack the designs that take humans and environment into consideration. To resolve this problem, the present study developed pergola designs suitable for Namgang in the City of Jinju, which is one of provincial cities in South Korea. The details of the research procedure are as follows. First, the study performed a literature review of studies on street furniture as theoretical background and outlined the characteristics of waterside spaces and the pergolas installed in waterside spaces. Second, the current condition of Namgang area in the City of Jinju was investigated. Third, case studies on previous designs were performed, and an in-depth interview with experts was conducted. Fourth, based on the above research, a design concept suitable for Namgang in the City of Jinju was developed. Finally, based on this, this study proposed a pergola design that contains this design concept. The pergola newly proposed in this study will be able to bring convenience and benefit to citizens as a pleasant and nature-friendly rest area in the Namgang area. It is also expected to be a good sample case for other provincial cities that are considering building pergolas.
