초등학교 남자교사의 육아휴직 경험에 관한 사례 연구: 육아휴직 후 1년 이내의 변화

본 연구는 초등학교 남자교사의 육아휴직 경험에 대한 이해와 함께 육아휴직이 개인은 물론 아버지와 교사로서 가정과 학교에 어떤 변화를 가져오는지 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위해 육아휴직 경험 이후 초등학교에서 근무 중인 남자교사 3명을 눈덩이 표집방식으로 선정하여 비구조화된 심층면접을 실시하였다. 심층 면접 자료는 Stake(1995)의 사례 연구방법에 따라 분석되었으며, 127개의 의미단위를 바탕으로 33개의 주제, 10개의 주제군, 4개의 범주로 발달시켰다. 연구 결과, 육아휴직을 경험한 초등학교 남자교사의 경험은 시간적 순서에 따라 4가지 범주,‘휴(携)직ㆍ휴(飍)직ㆍ휴(㔒)직’, ‘육아휴(休)직이 아닌 육.아휴(sigh).직’, ‘가르치는 교사에서 배우고 이해하는 남편과 아버지로’, ‘아빠의 마음으로 교단에 서다’로 구분되었다. 참여자들은 육아휴직 가운데 부정적 감정(distress)을 경험하기도 하였지만, 가족 간 구성원을 이해하고 자녀를 통해 배우는 긍정적 역동과 함께 교사로서 교육적 성장의 경험을 한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 초등학교 남자교사의 육아휴직 경험에 대한 의의와 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this qualitative case study is to understand the child-care leave experience of an elementary school male teacher and to explore what kind of changes child-care leave causes to the home and school as father and teacher as well as individuals. To achieve this aim, in-depth interviews were conducted targeting 3 elementary school male teachers on duty after child-care leave by selecting snowball sampling. The data were analyzed by using case study designed by Stake(1995). Based on 127 meaning units, the results were composed of 33 themes, 10 clusters of themes, and 4 categories such as 'three kinds of child-care leaves', 'child-care leave with a sigh rather than a rest', 'As a husband and father who learn and understand from a teaching teacher', ' stand in teacher's platform with the heart of daddy'. Though participants experienced some distress through child-care leave, they indicated experience of educational growth as teacher with a positive dynamics of understanding family members and learning through their children. Based on the results of this study, the implications of child-care leave experience of male elementary school teachers and suggestions for follow-up study were discussed.
