현대적 비정형화 디자인제품으로서의 버네큘러디자인 발전가능성에 대한 연구

This article is designed to offer theoretical data and systematic scholarly materials for continuous development of vernacular design as one of new design approach method expected to finding solutions of increasing diverse social problems in the future. The main method of this article is to review and analyze the data from internet D/B in domestic and abroad, and variety of literatures including thesis, books, pe riodicals and the other publications. The summary of contents and results of this article are as below. First, vernacular design signified a traditional design oriented on local culture developed as a synthetic evolution in a long period of time. Second, vernacular design is defined as a expressional design reflects visual culture including regional color and signal by an anonymous author using crops, raw or recyclable materials in their region through intuitional process based on informal conceptual criteria. Third, vernacular design is characterized by a coexistence with natural ecosystem, balance with eco⋅ human-friendly technology oriented on region, improvement for use and alteration-plasticity through multiple generations, and the informal design elements by a new standpoint and producing method in all aspects. Accordingly, vernacular design has an interconnected relationship with modern informal design by representing the essential elements such as a bio-mimicry design pursuing coexistence with natural ecosystem, an appropriate technology to explore ways to making balance with eco⋅human-friendly technology oriented on region, and esthetic value & cultural assets came from a traditional beauty. Also, vernacular design as one of new design approach method could make possibilities to find the way of solutions of increasing diverse social problems in the future. It was expected that this paper would be utilized as academical⋅theoretical data for its related design industry area in domestic and abroad.
