조각보 이미지를 응용한 가방 디자인 연구

Jogakbo is a representative traditional craft of Korea and uniquely features Korean aesthetic sense and symbolism. Meant to invoke interest in traditional Korean culture, this study applied the production methods of Jogakbo to bag designs. It first made theoretical consideration based on literature and specimens and referred to analytical data of patterns of Joseon Jogakbo to reproduce Jogakbo images. The purpose of the study is to emphasize the formative aesthetics and artistry of traditional Korean craftworks and apply the craft techniques to bag designs to ultimately suggest ways in which traditional craft designs can be commercialized. This study reproduced seven types of Jogakbo by referring to the ways in which scraps are connected in Jogakbo, and applied the findings to bag designs. This study suggests seven bag designs that consider shapes and colors of bags and organic relevance of bags and Jogakbo according to the types and color combinations of Jogakbo. It is hoped that this study will renew interest in traditional Korean crafts and promote application of the formative aesthetics and color combinations of Jogakbo to bag designs. Efforts should be made to apply traditional craft techniques to a wider range of fashion items.
