The Effects of Interpersonal Relationship Stress on Tourism Addiction of Tourists

초록

The main objective of this study is to research the effects of interpersonal relationship stress on tourism addiction of tourists working as employees in society. This study aims to understand the effects of stress occurring in relationships with bosses, colleagues, junior staffs, and customers which could be causes for interpersonal relationship stress of tourists on tourism addiction caused by excessive tourism, and also to establish the definition of tourism addiction. The sub-factors of interpersonal relationship stress included boss relationship, colleague relationship, junior staff relationship, and customer relationship while the sub-factors of tourism addiction included tolerance, obsession, withdrawal, and disturbance of daily living. Conducting the regression analysis, the results were suggested. In the results of the study, interpersonal relationship stress had significant effects on tourism addiction. As stresses from bosses, colleagues, and customers had huge effects on tourism addiction, tourism was selected as a method to relieve stress. Even though such tourism activity could be helpful to relief of stress, excessive tourism activity could generate additional stresses in daily life or work life, so that it would be necessary to adjust the proper number. However, when getting stresses from junior staff relationship, tourism activity could not be immersed due to job stress and work smoothness, which had negative(-) effects on tourism addiction. Even though this study just revealed the degree of significance in the exploratory level, it could be an important suggestion to the future researches in the aspect of revealing the relations between interpersonal relationship stress and tourism addiction through empirical research, and also suggesting significant implications to managers of tourism industry and in the aspect of corporate management. Just like the results of this study, when exposing to lots of stresses, it is easy to be addicted to tourism. Companies should work hard not to have losses by solving essential problems of employees' stress. When the limitations like family or cost are less, more money and time could be consumed. Therefore, the tourism industry should develop tourist items for a single-person tourist.
