초록
This study tried to understand the nature of the experience of the decision making process of twilight divorce and applied grounded theories suggested by Strauss & Cobin (1998) with a subject group of 20 men and women. The results of the research showed couples who have no affection for each other and who got married without enough preparation for their marriage predicted divorce to happen - it showed the need for communication and problem-solving skills between couples. Not only that, many couples suggested divorce themselves despite the difficulties of old age and the fact they have to go through the strenuous process of divorce, which highlighted the importance of a family support system. Meanwhile, there was a gap between the view of remarriage and the amount of monthly income based on gender, and twilight divorce was one of the methods used to resolve issues that had been accumulated in the process of marriage. Therefore this study interprets twilight divorce as a fundamental means of questioning the lengthened duration of marriage due to longer life expectancy, and has its significance in that it has confirmed the change in the traditional value of family and the importance of family life education.
