초록
노동수기란 노동현장에서 일하는 노동자들이 자신이 일하는 노동현장에서 겪었던 경험을 직접 쓴 글을 일컫는다. 1970년대 후반에 발표된 석정남의 「공장의 불빛」(1977), 유동우의 「어느 돌멩이의 외침」(1977년 1월～3월), 송효순의 『서울로 가는 길』(1982) 같은 것들이 대표적인데, 이 수기들은 근로기준법과의 관계에서 특별한 위치를 차지한다. 이 수기들은 산업화를 위해 노동자의 권리를 보장한 노동법이 유예되었던 1970년대의 상황에서, 인권유린과 임금착취에 시달리던 노동자들이 산업선교회와 같은 외부 종교단체의 도움으로 노동법의 존재를 알게 되고, 노동자의 권익을 회복하기 위해 자신들의 노동조합을 설립해 나아가는 일련의 과정을 사실적으로 그리고 있기 때문이다. 그런 의미에서 이 노동수기들은 근로기준법 인식을 통한 성장의 이야기이자 노조설립을 통해 근로기준법이 준수되는 사회를 만들기 위해 고투한 성장의 이야기라고 할 수 있다. 이 수기들은 또 전태일 사건과 특별한 연관을 맺고 있다. 즉, 저자들은 노조를 기획하는 과정에서 청계피복의 전태일이 분신자살한 사건을 반복해서 상기하거나 이야기하면서 자신들의 삶의 모형으로 삼는다. 이런 의미에서 전태일의 분신 이야기는 이후 노동법의 안정된 작동을 위해 헌신하게 될 노동자들의 이야기의 ‘원(原)-텍스트(Ur-text)’ 역할을 했다고도 말할 수 있다. 노동수기는 1970년대 문학계에 큰 충격을 주어 전문작가들에게 노동현실에 관심을 가질 것을 촉구했는데, 그 결과 기왕의 문학계도 이런 노동현실의 소설화에 나서게 된다. 조세희의 『난장이가 쏘아올린 작은 공』은 그 대표적인 결과물이다. 이처럼 노동수기는 개인들의 성장이 그 사회를 규율하는 법과 법리와 결코 무관할 수 없다는 점을 분명하게 보여주었다는 점에서 한국문학사에서 특별한 자리를 차지한다.
Abstract
Labor memoirs refers to the work written by the workers who work in the workplace where he worked. These labor memoirs have been published in progressive magazines such as the monthly Dialogue since the mid-1970s. Factory lights by Seok Jeong-Nam, The cry of a stone by Yoo Dong-Woo and The Way to Seoul by Song Hyo-sun are the exemplary works. The study of labor handwriting is diverse in its occurrence, literary history, genre, and conflictual discursive character. However, these memoirss have a special place in relation to the Labor Standards Act. In other words, in the 1970s, when the labor laws that guaranteed the rights of workers for industrialization were deferred, workers suffering from human rights abuses and wage exploitation became aware of the existence of labor laws with the help of external religious organizations such as industrial ministries, This is because they are realistically carrying out a series of processes to establish their own labor unions to restore workers' rights. In this sense, these labor memoirs are stories of growth through the recognition of the Labor Standards Act and the story of growth struggling to create a society in which the Labor Standards Act is adhered to through the establishment of labor unions. These works have another characteristic besides that they are the narratives of workers' awakening toward the practice of labor law, which is the intertextuality that these texts make with the suicide of Jeon Tae-Il. The authors of each piece repeatedly recall the events of Cheon Tae-Il repeatedly in their awakening process, talk about it, and exchange opinions. Therefore, it can be said that the story of Cheon Tae-il's suicide story played the role of 'Ur-text' of the stories of the workers who will be devoted to the stable operation of the labor law. These writings prompted professional writers to pay attention to the reality of the workers by giving a great impact to the literary circles in the 1970s. A small ball that the dwarf launched by Jo Se-hee is a typical work of literature and literature.
