지역별 소비생활문제와 소비격차

The purpose of this study was to search for plans to increase the consumption life level and quality of life of consumers by the area based on the data of 2017 Survey on Consumption Life Indicators in Korea by the Korea Consumer Agency. The study examined the entire 17 cities and provinces in problem experiences in consumption life, satisfaction with consumption life, capabilities of consumption life, and consumption gaps and also differences in them by the area size, form, and zone. In addition, the study looked into differences in them between 2015 and 2017 and analyzed factors to influence consumption life satisfaction by the area. The findings show that the satisfaction and capabilities of consumption life by the area increased from two years before, but all the areas remained at a low level of awareness and participatory experiences related to consumer rights. Jeolla Province and Jeju, in particular, recorded a lower level of consumption activities including consumption life satisfaction than other areas. This survey had a higher percentage of senior citizens aged 60 or older as respondents than other age groups, which means that the areas with a relatively higher portion of the elderly would record a low level of consumption life experiences. There were still differences in consumption life by the area, which raises a need to provide various administrative services to enhance the consumption life of local consumers and make specific plans to ensure diversity and participation in the domain of consumption life by reflecting the social tendencies, age distribution, and family members of each area under the social situations of recent attempts at constitutional revision for decentralization and discussions about the activation of a consumption life center by the area.
