포스트 지속가능 디자인으로서 정신성을 추구하는 디자인 개념의 고찰

본 연구는 인간과 생태계의 관계에 대한 인식의 변화에 따라, 앞으로 지속가능한 디자인이 수정⋅보완되어야 하는 방향을 모색하고자 하였다. 특히 정신성의추구가 지속가능한 디자인의 내재 가치로 수용될 때, 이것이 포스트 지속가능한 디자인의 형태가 될 것으로 상정하고, 그 방법론의 가이드를 제시하고자 하였다. 연구의 주된 내용과 결과는 아래와 같다. 첫째, 지속가능성 논의의 주제가 지속가능한 발전에서 지속가능한 사회로 전환되면서 이를 다루는 관점도 인간 중심에서 생태사회 중심으로 변화되었다. 생태중심의 관점에서는 선과 윤리를 고려하는 정신성이 중요한 가치 요소로 다루어진다. 둘째, 정신성은 육체와 대립되는 비물질적이고 내면적인 것을 지칭하는 용어로서 영혼, 마음, 영성, 지각 의 주체를 의미하는 개념으로 규정된다. 그리고 정신성을 추구한다는 것은 개인의 측면에서는 관조적이고 실천적인 삶을 지향하는 것이며, 사회 측면에서는생태계 내에서 공존할 수 있는 사회를 구축 및 지속하기 위하여 공동선을 추구하는 것이다. 셋째, 정신성의 추구를 디자인과 연관하여 고찰하였을 때, 그 의미는 디자인에 내재되어야 하는 공동선에 대한 디자이너 스스로의 내적 성찰과 이를 실행하고자 하는 책임감과 관계된다. 현대사회가 지속가능한사회를 향해 나아가고 있으므로, 정신성의 추구는 지속가능성의 추구와 같은 맥락으로 수용된다. 넷째, 기존의 지속가능한 디자인의 방법론에 정신성의 추구를 접목하여 수정 및 보완할 시, 그 방향은두 가지로 나누어진다. 하나는 정신성을 기존 방법론에서 제시한 요소들을 포괄하는 총체적이고 포괄적인가치로서 추구하는 것이며, 다른 하나는 기존 요소들에 정신성을 추가하여 방법론을 새롭게 구축하는 것이다. 본 연구를 통해 제시된 포스트 지속가능한 디자인의 두 가지 방법론은 변화된 패러다임에 맞는 디자인의 의미와 역할, 디자이너의 태도와 책임에 대한 논의를 유도할 것이며, 구체적인 방법론과 접근법에 대한후속 연구를 필요로 한다. 본 연구가 관련 연구의 기초 자료로서 앞으로 지속가능한 사회를 구축하기 위한 이론적 바탕으로서 작용하길 기대한다.
Abstract
This study is designed to find out the direction to which the sustainable design shall be amended and complemented in the future according to the change in the recognition between human and ecology. Especially, the study focuses on presenting the methodology guide by supposing that pursuing the spirituality becomes the post-sustainable design when it is accepted as the intrinsic value of sustainable design. The main contents and results of the study are as follows. First, as the topic of the discussion on the sustainability has changed from the sustainable development to the sustainable society, the perspective handling this has also changed from the human centeredness to ecology community centeredness. From the ecology centered perspective, the spirituality valuing the goodness and ethics is handled as the important element. Second, the spirituality indicates the term meaning the inside thing of the human that it can be defined as the concept such as the subject of spirit, mind, spirituality, and recognition as it is non-physical which is opposite to the body. In addition, the pursuit of spirituality is trying to have the contemplative and practical life from the individual’s perspective and is also the pursuing the common goodness for construction and sustaining a society that can coexist in the ecological system From the societal perspective Third, when the pursuit of mentality is researched in relation with the design, its meaning is related to the designer’s own internal reflection for the common goodness that should be inherent in the design and the sense of responsibility for trying to implement it. As the modern society is going toward the sustainable society, the pursuit of spirituality is considered to be consistent with the pursuit of sustainability. Fourth, The existing sustainable design methodology can be modified and supplemented by combining with the pursuit of spirituality, and its direction can be classified into two ways. One is the pursuing as the total and comprehensive value including all factors of the conventional methodology while the other is the construction of new methodology by adding the spirituality to the conventional factors. Two methodologies of post-sustainable design suggested by this study would lead to the discussion on the meanings and role of design which is proper for the changed paradigm, and the attitude and responsibility of designer. The detailed methodology and approach method need more subsequent researches. It is hoped that the study becomes the basic data for the subsequent studies and acts as the theoretical base on construction sustainable community.
