R&D투자와 특허가 기업성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 : 한국 지식서비스 기업을 중심으로

Purpose : This paper examines the effects of industry characteristics, technology changes and patent production on firm performance. Research design, data, methodology : The knowledge service industry is a source of added value creation using knowledge, and has high growth potential that plays an intermediate role between manufacturing and service industries. This study analyzes 184 Korean knowledge service firms with active R&D investment. Results : As a result, R&D investment and patents in the knowledge service industry are significantly lower than those in the manufacturing industry, and R&D investment accounts for one third of the manufacturing industry. As with manufacturing, firms' R&D investment has a positive impact on firm's patent production, and firm size also has a positive effect. In addition, the effect of R&D investment and patents on the performance of the firm has played an important role as well as the manufacturing industry. Conclusions : Due to the nature of the service industry, which has a large number of non-tradable goods, the effect of degree of openness is not as large as that of the manufacturing industry.
