Recently, corporate support for employee volunteerism (CSEV) has been widely employed as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by organizations. Despite increasing interests in CSEV, few studies have identified the causal relationships among organizational culture, stakeholder pressure, CSR, and CSEV. This study aims to investigate the direct and indirect effects of organizational culture and stakeholder pressure on CSR and CSEV. Drawing on a sample of 250 firms in United States, a structural equation model was used to examine research hypotheses. The results of this study showed that humanistic culture and stakeholder pressure were positively related to CSEV, as well as perceived CSR. We also found that CSR significantly mediated the relationship between humanistic culture and CSEV. These findings indicate that humanistic culture could be used as a managerial tool to implement CSEV throughout direct and indirect relationships with CSR.

Abstract
