의료기관의 전략적 성과측정시스템의 특성과 이용방식이 병원경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of PMS characteristics on the hospital management performances, and to explore the mediating role of PMS controls in the relationship. [Methodology] I applied system theory (input－conversion－output) in order to obtain a research purpose. Specifically, I designed the PMS characteristics as input dimension, PMS controls(diagnostic conrtol vs interactive control) as conversion dimension, and financial/ nonfinancial(employee, patient) performances as output dimension. There are two hypotheses. One is to verify the relationship between the PMS characteristics and the hospital management performances, and the other is to identify the mediating effect of the PMS control in the relationship. I performed the path analysis to verify the hypotheses. [Findings] The results of the study are as follows. Firstly, PMS strategy linkage, appropriateness of composition, and justice had a positive effect on employee performance. However, there was no direct effect on the patient and financial performance. Secondly, the mediating effects of the PMS controls on the relationship between the PMS characteristics and the hospital management performances were also discovered. I emphasized improvement for level of the PMS characteristics(strategy linkage, appropriateness of composition, justice). And I confirmed that the PMS interactive control as well as the PMS diagnostic control can bring synergies to the improvement of hospital management performances. [Implications] This study suggests that it is important to make efforts to improve level of the PMS characteristics in order to sustain the hospital management performances. It also suggests that if the appropriate control pattern of PMS is applied, the probability of achieving the goal of sustainable growth can be increased.
