감성디자인 사례연구를 바탕으로 한 유아용 테이블 세트 디자인

Growing interest in infant furniture, parents recognize the importance of the childcare environment for their children spending much time indoors. Yet still much furniture for infants are bluntly manufactured as a miniature of those for the adults or the characteristics for preschoolers. In the study, we conducted a literature survey on the developmental characteristics of the infants and their definitions with the considerations in the development of infant furniture, as well as summarized necessity and factors to the emotional design During the design development process, the analysis of design and color was implemented on the products of domestically and internationally recognized brands, not only the consumer characteristics also the preference confirmed through consumer evaluation. In addition the target height of the table and the chair were set according to the average body size of Korean infants. Specific design directions were laid out in three aspects, material and color which are the elements of visceral and emotional design, and the final design was implemented through the process of design visualization, 3D design and prototype testing. This process enables us to recognize the correlation between the developmental characteristics of infants and the furniture currently being sold in the market, and given the fact that the differences between the characteristics of buyers and the actual users are affecting the purchase. As an empirical study, proposed design direction and result in this study are expected to directly help the development of the infant table design in the future.
