Fashion Jewelry Design Inspired by Batik Pattern

As a jewelry designer, it is precious that finding an inspiration object is similar to finding the pearls from the ocean. Therefore, this paper aimed to design modern fashion jewelry inspired by traditional batik patterns of Indonesia that the author studied in her previous research. The research method used in the article was secondary data analysis, and the author wrote all the chapters in descriptive and narrative methods to express a smoother way. In addition to explaining the theory of batik, she briefly mentioned the function and production of jewelry in Indonesia as the main inspiration object is from this country. The paper included the three most famous techniques of making jewelry, filigree, granulation, and disk-attachment. Additionally, it contained the information on the jewelry brands which employ these techniques as their design signature. Based on all of the above studies, the author of this study design her jewelry design for wedding, and she explained the inspiration, concept, and process with the figures. As a result of the purpose achievement, she has concluded that batik patterns have the potential to become an inspiration for design not only in jewelry but also in all other design products. Moreover, fashion jewelry designs are a contribution to computer-aided jewelry design, and it could be a medium for promoting batik cultural heritage to modern customers and audiences.
