통합사회 교과서의 ‘인권 보장과 헌법’ 단원에 대한 인권교육 내용체계 분석

The purposes of this study were to analyze the content system of human rights education in the "Guarantee of Human Rights and the Constitution" unit in integrated Social Studies textbooks in high school and figure out its patterns. For these purposes, the investigator analyzed the concerned unit in five integrated Social Studies textbooks that had been authorized. The major analysis results were as follows: first, the study examined the textbooks in terms of amounts of content described and found that the content category of "laws and institutions about human rights" was covered much and that the content category of "values and attitudes of respecting human rights" was covered relatively less; second, there was relatively small content that would help students study human rights sensitivity by understanding the rights of others as well as their won in the content composition; third, traditional rights were mainly put on the list of human rights with solidarity rights and their related ones presented in relatively lower frequency; fourth, there were few descriptions about the content of history and events related to human rights in the South Korean society; and finally, there was relatively small content to help high school students discuss specific participation and practice in relation to their human rights issues. These findings raise a need for students to learn human rights sensitivity through the content composition of textbooks to connect it to the content of other human right categories. In addition, it is needed to develop and provide materials about the history and events of human rights expansion in the nation and the human rights issues and situations directly related to the life of high school students.
