본 연구의 목적은 민주시민역량과 연계된 미디어 리터러시의 요인 중 사회적 의사소통과 참여와 책임감 있는 미디어 이용 측면의 수행 양상을 조사하는 것이다. 이를 위해 중․고등학생 총 665명을 대상으로 조사를 실시하였고 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년들은 페이스북이나 카카오스토리, 인터넷 블로그 미디어를 통해 자신의 메시지를 게시하고 타인과 공유하는 사회적 의사소통에 적극적으로 참여하는 편이었다. 반면 사회적 이슈에 관해 온라인 커뮤니티나 네트워크에 직접 참여하는 사회적 참여 수준은 낮았다. 사회적 의사소통과 참여 수준은 중학생이 고등학생에 비해 높은 편이었다. 둘째, 청소년들은 윤리적 미디어 이용 수준이 다소 높은 편이었다. 저작권 등에 관한 권리 보호 측면의 실행 수준이 전반적으로 높았고, 신뢰할 수 없는 정보의 확산과 공유의 수준도 높았다. 자료의 출처를 밝히지 않은 미디어 자료 사용은 고등학생이, 미디어 콘텐츠의 불법 다운로드는 중학생이 통계적으로 유의한 수준에서 더 높았다. 셋째, 청소년들의 언어 윤리 준수 수준은 보통 이상이었고, 국어 규범 준수와 언어 예절 준수는 고등학생보다 중학생이 더 통계적으로 높은 수준에서 언어 윤리 준수 수준이 높았다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the aspects of social communication, participation, and responsible media use among the factors of media literacy linked with democratic civic competence. For this purpose, a total of 665 middle and high school students were surveyed. The results are as follows. First, youths actively participated in social communication by posting their messages and sharing with others through Facebook, Kakao Story, and Internet blog media. On the other hand, the level of social involvement that directly participates in online communities or networks on social issues was low. Second, teenagers tended to have higher levels of ethical media use. Overall, the level of protection of rights concerning copyrights was high, and the spread and sharing of untrusted information was high. Third, adolescents' level of verbal ethics was higher than normal, and observance of Korean language standards and language etiquette showed higher levels of ethics at middle school students.
