통일 담론으로서 헌법 애국주의의 제안과 검증 - 헌법 애국심과 통일의식의 관계 분석을 중심으로 -

The existing discussion on unificationis summarized as discourse on nationalism or discourse on benefit of unification. Both discourses show some limitations in achieving full and solid unification. Therefore, an alternative discourse is needed to persuade citizens of our political community while pursuing more universal values. It is argued that constitutional patriotism is a proper collective identity of a unifiedstate in a multicultural era. However, there is no empirical study so far. It is important to consider whether constitutional patriotism will play a positive role in the unification process. This is because Constitutional patriotism can be a driving force for unificationinto a political community based on universal values and principles. On the other hand, it can highlight constitutional distinction between the two countries which can undermine the consensus of unification.The purpose of this paper is to emphasize that constitutional patriotism is likely to be an alternative discourse. Another objective of this study is to clarify the relationship between constitutional patriotism and unification perception through empirical studies. To this end, we will look at the concept of constitutional patriotism, examine cases of constitutional patriotism's contribution to German unification, and argue that constitutional patriotism is the political morality required for social integration in unified and unification perception. Through this, this paper suggests that promotion of patriotism through constitutional education and constitutional education might be effective in raising awareness of unification.
