아시아지역 펀드패스포트제도와 자산운용비즈니스에 대한 영향

The Asia Region Funds Passport(ARFP)is an initiative led by five member countries including Korea, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and Thailand with the objective of facilitating the cross-border selling of financial products such as investment trusts across the countries in the region. It is important to advance the ARFP to further develop and expand Asia’s capital markets to contribute to the economic growth of Asia. The ARFP is an activity to promote the integration of the investment trust markets in the Asian region. While investors can enjoy the benefits from the increased range of investment options, the financial industries are required to make more effort to provide more attractive financial services as the competition intensifies. In addition, actions taken by each entity such as investors and distributors are expected to deepen and expand the capital markets in Asia while improving the financing environment for companies. Since the ARFP includes regulations that are not seen in the existing system in Korea, the scheme is highly likely to bring about fundamental changes to the industry frameworks including business practices that have been established based on the domestic market. In the short term, Korea’s asset management industry needs to foster investment capabilities by improving investment efficiency and expanding investment demand while attracting overseas investment by developing products that meet the needs of the customers and establishing strategies to gradually enter the global market in the long term.
