Effect of Transaction Fairness, Transaction Authenticity, and the CSR Activities on Reputation, Trust, and Commitment among Firms

This study judged whether independent companies can secure favorable reputations if they conduct fair trade, display authenticity, and carry out CSR activities, and as favorable reputations affect trust relationships with trade companies, it was predicted that they ultimately connect to commitment. To verify this, surveys were conducted on manufacture-related businesses and analyzed. Verified results of research hypotheses were as follows. First, verifications showed that trade fairness had a positive effect on reputation and trade authenticity also had a positive effect on reputation. However, while CSR had a positive effect on reputation, it was not significant and while reputation also had a positive effect on trust, it was not significant. Lastly, verifications showed that trust had a positive effect on commitment. The implications of this study are as follows. First, predisposing factors that can secure the favorable reputations of independent companies were verified to be trade fairness and trade authenticity. Therefore, it is important for independent companies to provide fairness and authenticity in their trade processes and results. However, CSR activities are limited in acting as major predisposing factors that can secure favorable reputations. Second, even if favorable reputations are secured, development into trust relationships can be limited. Third, emphasis is placed once again on the fact that securing trust relationships is an important factor in securing a relationship of commitment with trade companies. In particular, electronics and communications businesses and automobile and component businesses need to check the contents presented as the results of this study and utilize them in their business management activities.
