ASEAN 회원국의 사회ㆍ경제적 요인이 한국의 해외직접투자에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구

본 연구는 부패와 글로벌경쟁력이 해외직접투자에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위하여 ASEAN 10개 회원국을 대상으로 2000년-2016년 동안 170개의 국가년도 관측치를 회귀분석하여 그 관계를 실증분석하였다. 많은 연구에서선진국으로의 해외직접투자 경우에 국가경쟁력이 높고 청렴한 국가를 선호하는 것으로 제시하고 있다. 반면 본연구는 후진국 혹은 개발도상국을 대상으로 국가경쟁력이 낮고 부패의 수준이 높은 경우 해외직접투자에 어떠한영향을 미치는가를 검증한다. 이를 위해 ASEAN 회원국을 대상으로 한국이 해외직접투자를 시도할 때 국가경쟁력과 부패가 해외직접투자에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 분석하였다. 첫째, ASEAN 회원국의 국가경쟁력이 낮을수록 해외직접투자가 많이 이루어지는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, ASEAN 회원국의 부패가 심할수록 해외직접투자에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 한국의 ASEAN 회원국에 대한 무역량은 ASEAN 회원국으로의 해외직접투자에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 국가의 발전과정 중에서 사회적, 경제적 상황이 달라짐에 따라 부패 또는 국가경쟁력을 판단하는 기준이 변할 수 있음을 의미한다. 동아시아에서는 부정적인 사회적, 경제적 개념들이 해외직접투자 유치를 위해 적절히 활용될 수 있으며, 이는 국가의 발전과 성장에 긍정적 영향을 끼칠 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of corruption and global competitiveness on foreign direct investment. Our sample consists of 170 national-year observations from 10 member countries of ASEAN for the period from 2000 to 2016. In many studies, it is suggested that high national competitiveness and Integrity have positive effects on foreign direct investment in developed countries. On the other hand, we investigate how competitiveness and corruption in ASEAN member countries affect foreign direct investment of Korean when it tries to invest in ASEAN member countries. In results, first, the global competitiveness of the ASEAN member countries has a negative effect on foreign direct investment. Second, the corruption of ASEAN member countries has a positive effect on foreign direct investment. Third, Korea’s trade volume with ASEAN member countries has a positive effect on foreign direct investment into ASEAN member countries. These results suggest that the criteria for judging corruption or global competitiveness can be different depending on the social and economic situation. Negative socio-economic concepts such as high corruption and low global competitiveness can be appropriately utilized for foreign direct investment depending on the specific situation in Asia, They can also contribute to national development and economic growth
