I suggest the three categories of the contemporary Chinese architectural design. according to the case study using the approach method of the correlation with the history and culture. Chinese form, Western form and Mixed form would be suggested that necessities of study as purpose, inner characters, history and cultural approaches as ranges, and case study as methods. The concepts and practices of design formations as basic of architectural design would be illuminated. The three categories be suggested Chinese form as ‘nature restoration’Western form as ‘copies’, and mixed form as Western mainstream-Chinese subsidy. The case study would be divided to the three parts: first, Chinese form has mainly adopted wooden made. Second, Western form had been originated from heroic and aesthetic standard. Third, mixed form would have adopted the mixture between Chinese and Western form. I would purpose three points in conclusion that first, the main trends of types of contemporary Chinese architectural design have had three main categories: Chinese form, Western form and Mixed form, second, the transition of Chinese architectural design as its acuision of rationality and generality, and third, lessons of contemporary Chinese architectural design would be the relationships and development of our design formations or types.
