The proper selection of representative days(RDs) is very important for reflecting the dynamics of electricity load and the time-varying generation characteristics of solar and wind power in the generation capacity planning. This study compares the various models and solution methods of selecting RDs given in the literature using the domestic real-world data on power load, capacity factors of solar and wind power. Through experiments, we confirmed the usefulness of the optimization solution for k-medoid clustering problems and presented the results of RD selections using 2016-2018 data.
