세종이 훈민정음을 창제한 이유: 형사학의 관점

This study shed light on the variety of hidden motives in regard with birth secret of the Hunminjeongeum(Korean script) from an angle of criminology, which has not yet been introduced so far by anyone. The author empirically proved the new historical fact that invention of Hunminjeongeum was closely related beyond intimation with the judicial procedure, by diversly analyzing the articles registered in the Sejong Sillok all-round. It looks like that King Sejong went through invention of Hunminjeongeum since he had convinced the necessity of more easier script than Chinese character, which is very difficult to learn how to read and write, while exerting to eradicate deep-rooted evils that are self-begotten in the judicial process. There are sizable precedent researches that microscopically focused on the close relation of Hunminjeongeum and accumulated evil of in the field of jurisdiction, but there is no research work that has illuminated the same subject macroscopically. So far no one revealed the reason why King Sejong so seriously accepted dissatisfaction and resentment caused by long lasting evil in the field of judicial dimension. The author’s conclusion is that King Sejong primarily invented Hunminjeongeum in order to avoid heaven’s sanction as a punishment for failing in governance or abusing public power. In that sense, this is the first work that disclosed the hidden motive of the birth of Hunminjeongeum(Korean script) from criminological viewpoint.
