The Effects of Entrepreneurship on the Entrepreneurial Intention of University Students: Focusing on the Mediating Effects of Entrepreneurship Education Satisfaction and the Moderating Effects of Entrepreneurial Support System

Purpose: The objective of this study is to empirically examine the effects of the characteristics of entrepreneurship on the entrepreneurial intention targeting university students with lack of social experience and information, and also the mediating effects of entrepreneurship education satisfaction of preservice latent entrepreneurs and the moderating effects of entrepreneurial education support system on the influence relationship. Research design, data, and methodology: The data was collected through questionnaires targeting the preservice latent entrepreneurs receiving the entrepreneurship education as a part of entrepreneurial education support system. Based on the preceding researches, as the variables of the characteristics of entrepreneurship, total three factors such as the characteristic of risk-taking, innovation, and proactiveness initiative were reviewed. In this study, descriptive statistic analysis, reliability analysis and difference verification(t-test, One-way ANOVA) were done through SPSS 25.0. Moderating effect analysis was done through SPSS PROCESS macro 3.4. Results: In the results of the analysis, first, the characteristic of risk-taking and innovation of the characteristics of entrepreneurship had significantly positive(+) effects on the entrepreneurial intention. In case when the tendency to take risks is great, the entrepreneurial intention could be increased as well. Second, the innovation and proactiveness initiative of the characteristics of entrepreneurship had significantly positive(+) effects on the entrepreneurship education satisfaction. Third, the entrepreneurship education satisfaction played the mediating role on the entrepreneurial intention only in the characteristic of risk-taking of the characteristics of entrepreneurship. The entrepreneurship education satisfaction played the mediating role in which the characteristics of entrepreneurship would strengthen the entrepreneurial intention more. In case when the tendency to take risks is great, the entrepreneurship education satisfaction could be also increased. Fourth, the university’s entrepreneurial education support system did not play the moderating role on the effects of the characteristics of entrepreneurship on the entrepreneurial intention. Conclusions: The results of this study suggested the theoretical basis in the aspect of spreading the preservice entrepreneurs’ positive awareness of entrepreneurship and increasing their entrepreneurial intention by operating and providing diverse types of entrepreneurial education support through entrepreneurial education, and also helping them to have successful business start-up in reality by developing the innovative, proactive, and risk-taking characteristics of entrepreneurship.
