제조업의 내·외부 환경이 혁신 활동에 미치는 영향 : ICT 기업과 비ICT 기업의 비교

Today, innovation activities are becoming an essential means for firms, not an option. This study analyzed the relationship between internal and external environments and innovation activities for the manufacturing industry, and examined the difference between ICT firms and non-ICT firms. The data from Workplace Panel Survey (WPS) conducted by Korea Labor Institute from 2005 to 2015 were used. The results of the analysis are as follows. In ICT firms, the external environments (degree of market competition, situation of market demand) promotes innovation activities rather than the internal environments. In the case of non-ICT firms, the internal environments (professional management system, employee evaluation) promotes innovation activities rather than the external environments. Therefore, when establishing a national policy and/or a corporate strategy, the difference between ICT firms and non-ICT firms should be considered. This study is meaningful because it compared and analyzed ICT firms and non-ICT firms in relation to innovation activities. In order to promote innovation activities, ICT firms need policy support such as the provision of technology and market information, and non-ICT firms need to improve organizational management/operation internally more than anything else.
