사물인터넷 디바이스의 보안성 확보에 있어서 형법의 역할 ― 일상생활에서 사용하는 사물인터넷 디바이스 제조자에 대하여 부과되는 형법적 의무를 중심으로 ―

Today, we are surrounded by thousands of via network connected sensors and devices constantly gathering, transmitting our personal information. Wireless Sensor Networks are playing a more significant role in building smart systems such as smart health care, smart home, etc. So the vulnerabilities of computing devices and network communication systems could result in significant damage to our privacy. Another danger we are confronted with is that IoT devices designed to interact with physical world could cause physical damages when they are hacked. These potential threats originating from the vulnerabilities of IoT devices and networks should be considered as a systemic risk and efforts should be made to proactively embed privacy and security into the design of the IoT system. In managing the security risks in the IoT systems, it could be required to impose legal, and sometimes criminal, duties on manufacturers and suppliers to ensure that critical IoT devices and networks are secure by design.
