초록
All objects involved in human activities are the result of design acts. The design process is a process of problem solving and a process of clear thinking development. Since the modern times, technological development and new materials have brought about great changes in architectural design. Louis I. Kahn is a representative architect in the transition period, which goes beyond the rationality of modern architecture. Architecture is the process of perceiving space and creating a physical system for it. Therefore, understanding the composition of design elements is an important initial process not only for analyzing and defining design, but also for direct creative activities. As a physical object for spatial composition, the design element undergoes primary expansion through basic transformation to conform to the design concept. and Depending on various conditions or variables, it develops into a three-dimensional space and building form through more complex rules. For Louis I. Kahn, Room is the most basic design element that composes the plane. And as their relationship gradually developed, systematic comprehensive regularity was established as a schema of design thinking. Schema is a kind of thinking frame created and organized in the designer's thinking through repeated experiences and problem solving. Therefore, it is different from the meaning of a simple shape or a form, and serves to provide solutions to various problems that occur in the design process. The designer expands and continuously develops by selecting the right design elements and making relationships. And among them, the upper relation rules are systematically structured as schema, so they are continuously applied not only in the design process but also for optimized results. In this regard, this study will analyze the thinking of modern design through the expansion of design elements and analyze them through Louis I. Kahn's sketch and concept of ‘Room’
