<강릉매화타령>에 나타난 욕망의 성격과 징계의 의미

본고는 <강릉매화타령>을 연구대상으로 삼아, 골생원의 성적욕망이 어떤 성격을 가지고 있는지 파악하고, 그에게 가해지는 공모와 징치의 이면에 어떤 의미가 있는지 구명하는 데 목적을 두었다. 골생원은 양반 신분을 가지고 있지만, 추한 외모에 거대한 성기(性器)까지 지니고 있어 결핍과 과잉이라는 불균형의 상태를 보여준다. 신체적 자질과 사회적 자질 사이의 괴리가 커지며 기괴함을 낳게 되고, 이는 서울과 강릉으로 구조화된 공간을 통해 확장된다. 남성훼절담에서 남성 주인공의 삶을 조율하는 아버지라는 존재를 <강릉매화타령>에서 찾아보기 힘들다. 골생원은 아버지의 부재를 통해 가족과 사회라는 상징질서를 거부할 수 있게 된다. 문제는 골생원이 대안으로 택한 매화와의 관계도 철저하게 상상적이라는 사실이다. 결국 <강릉매화타령>은 19세기 양반의 비극적인 일 양상을 조명한다. 판소리 특유의 놀이성과 골계미가 비극을 희극으로 전환시키지만, 선택지 없는 삶의 노정에서 끊임없이 불안을 안고 살아가는 골생원을 통해 19세기의 소외된 양반상을 적실하게 드러낸다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to explore the feature of desire and meaning of discipline in the “Gangneung Maehwa Taryeong”. This is one of the seven pansori repertories which have lost musical factors and only texts remained. There is a main male character, Gol-Saengwon, whose appearance is weird. He both has a lack and surplus in his own body. Gol-Saengwon shows the incompatible attributes and it starts to get bigger with the structuralized spaces, Seoul and Gangneung. The weird male is born by the circumstance of both father’s absence and hierarchical absence between Seoul and Gangneung. Gol-Saengwon denies the world of symbol. However, he keeps feeling restless because his alternative choose belongs to the imaginary. Gol-Saengwon shows a tragedy of a yangban in 19th Century. A comic atmosphere of pansori’s expression turns this text to the humorous one but it just shows the destiny of surpluses in 19th Century.
