앵베르 주교의 기해박해 피신지 ‘상괴’에 대하여

This paper was written to study about the pastoral journey and about the spirituality of Bishop Imbert(1796~1839) who was the most famous martyr of the Kihae-Persecution in 1839. I submitted it to the committee of martyrdom memorial symposium planed by the Suwon Diocese on October 2019. The purpose of this paper was to overcome the limits of non-deducing the only single place synthesizing diverse opinions over the sheltering place of Bishop Imbert, but the name Siang-Koi was very famous to the researchers as the bishop’s refuge from after 8.15 liberation from imperial Japanese till now. For this study, I have referred existing results of linguistic considerations and of geographical surveys of that place, and added new data such as old map and old records of local geographics to the results. And I took the methods simultaneously considering changing and unchanging topographical factors and analyzing them synthetically from before 181 years ago in the time of Kihae-Persecution till the present year of 2020. As a results, I presumed the old place name Siang-koi to the present administrative district address Wonjeong-ri Po-seung myeon at Pyeongtaek city, and there Bishop Imbert got to have meeting with his fellow missionary priests P.P. Maubant(1803~1839) and J.H. Chastan(1803~1839) for discussing the urgent church matters. Besides that Bishop Imbert as the most highest shepherd continued to offer his alms for the poor Catholic imprisoned to jail because of their Christian belief and adhered to support spiritual helps for them. From now on if we find the proper useful way of my paper for the pilgrim Catholics, we will have more or less benefits of cultivating martyrdom.
