여성임원이 기업의 사회적책임활동에 미치는 영향

[Purpose]The purpose of this study is to demonstrate whether the diversity of gender within the board of directors, including female executives, affects the corporate social responsibility activities. [Methodology]Considering the prior study that corporate social responsibility activities result from strengthening supervisory functions and transparency in accounting, and the prior study that female executives’ participation in the board of directors contributes to strengthening accounting transparency, the increase in female executives will have a positive impact on corporate social responsibility activities. To verify this, a non－financial business listed on the securities market from 2013 to 2017 was selected as a sample with a settlement date of December. The ESG evaluation index of the KCGS was used as a proxy for corporate social responsibility activities and the relationship between female executives and social responsibility activities was verified through regression analysis. [Findings]The results are as follows； the number of female executives has a statistically significant positive(＋) impact on corporate social responsibility activities. And corporate size, the operating cash flow, debt－to－equity ratio and foreign equity ratio, respectively, have a positive(＋) impact on social responsibility activities. [Implications]This study is meaningful in that it has identified the impact of female executives on decision making in the domestic environment where the ratio of female executives is relatively low and the research on them is insignificant. It is also expected to contribute to the CSR study in that it was revealed to domestic corporations that gender diversity of the board of directors could be a factor in corporate social responsibility activities.
